That's not your green light to guzzle soda and throw back processed foods, though.

Fructose, the sugar found in high-fructose corn syrup (the bane of soft drinks and processed foods) as well as natural foods like fruit and honey, can alter brain genes and up the risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s, UCLA reports.

 Simply cutting sugary drinks from your daily diet could keep deadly visceral fat from putting a stranglehold on your internal organs, says a new study in the journal Circulation.
Too much visceral fat, the deep fat that wraps around vital organs like your heart, liver, and kidneys, can lead to metabolic syndrome, whose symptoms can include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and raised insulin levels.
